Greetings to All.
As everyone is by now aware, the Projectoree is run by Senior Scouts and the participating Troops; for the most part, the District Staff is not involved in running any part of either Projectoree.
To a large extent, this is by my intent. It is my strong desire that all members of the District Staff who wish to participate in either Projectoree do so by co-camping with their closest associated Troops; as such, District Staffers may (and should) assist those Troops as adjunct ASM's or event staffing (which every Troop can use.)
Following is a Supplemental Guide to the Projectoree for District Staff members which spells this out in more detail. The purpose of this email is to ask the Projectoree Troops to cordially invite co-camping by District Staff members (especially those with ties to your Units), and to welcome those District Staff members who ask to join you at your Projectoree. Given the rather extreme lack of staff currently active in the District (less than 25???), and the fact that many will be involved in the Webelos Woodsmen Event during Projectoree "B," it is unlikely that any Troop will have more than one or two District Staff members.
It is my desire that all Troops use this Projectoree as an opportunity to get to know your District Staff (and vice versa!) Please accept that opportunity.
YiS - Bob

1999 Chain Bridge Projectorees
Supplemental Guide for District Staff
Foreword: This Guide is a supplement to the formal Projectoree Guide, and details the desired/expected roles for Chain Bridge District Staff members who wish to participate in either of the upcoming Projectorees.
Overview: The Projectorees are this year's equivalent of a normal Spring Camporee. They are based on the highly successful "North Arlington Projectorees," which were unofficial "neighborhood" campouts run by a small conglomerate of Troops in North Arlington each Spring from 1995 through 1998. This year's Projectorees are Official District Events for Chain Bridge District. There are two Projectorees this Spring; both will be at the old Camp Wilson in Pohick Bay Regional Park (Lorton, VA.) The first ("A") will be held on April 23rd - 25th, and will involve the following Troops:
104, 106, 111, 143, 149, 167, 624, 638, 647, and 648.
The second ("B") will be held the following weekend, April 30th - May 2nd, and will involve the following Troops:
128, 505, 652, 667, 822/825, 827/828, 869, 904, 1130, and possibly 1916.
Note that there will also be a separate "Webelos Woodsmen" Camping event held in conjunction with Projectoree "B" only. However, note that except for flag ceremonies and Religious Services, the Webelos event will be run completely independently of the Projectoree. Bill Lee and Kristine Flamm are in charge of the Webelos event.
As the Projectoree Guide details, the Projectorees are quite a bit different than a traditional Camporee. In essence, all event (games) and administrative staff positions have been assigned to and will be run by members of the attending Troops - specifically the Senior Scouts of the attending Troops - with only "backup" monitoring and assistance from Adult Scouters. Thus, the Scouts will be given real responsibility to run critical aspects of both Projectorees.
Your Role: As implied above, District Staff are not formally assigned to any aspect of either Projectoree. You are, however, still invited to attend either or both Projectorees, or to volunteer your services to assist the Webelos Woodsmen Campout during Projectoree "B." If you elect to attend either or both of the Projectorees, you are very strongly encouraged to associate with your closest assigned Troop - camp with them, eat with them, assist them as an adjunct ASM or Staff Member through the weekend, and - most importantly - interact as much as possible with both their Scouts and their Leaders. It is vitally important to the future of Chain Bridge District that we strive to re-establish am active, working relationship between the District Staff and the Troops, and the District Staffers have been intentionally left unassigned during these events in order to allow you to achieve this more important objective. If "your" Troop isn't coming, volunteer to work with another, neighboring Troop.
The confirmed Troops are listed above; thus, you can see which Projectoree(s) "your" Troop(s) will be attending. Please contact your selected Troop(s) directly regarding their camping and eating arrangements. Note that neither Projectoree will have a formal "District Staff Camping Area" - while there is a "Staff Camping Area," it is for Senior Scouts acting as Staff, not District Scouters. Similarly, no provisions have been made for District Staff Food at either Projectoree or at the "Webelos Woodsmen" Event, so if you elect to camp independently for any of these three activities (which will be difficult due to lack of space), you will need to make your own arrangements for all meals.
Costs: Projectoree Registration is separate from "Webelos Woodsmen" Registration. If you are attending a Projectoree as a de facto member of your associated Troop, please contact them well ahead of time to volunteer your assistance, and arrange your payment through them. If this is impractical, please use the District Staff Registration Form below. Note well the requirement to attach a photocopy of your most current Class III level medical form, as well as a contact person and telephone number to call in the event of a medical emergency. These will be kept by the assigned First Aid Troop through the weekend, and unless otherwise indicated will be destroyed by myself after the Projectoree. Note that if you are attending with a Troop, you should provide them with the photocopy of your most current Class III medical form.
Questions? Please read the Projectoree Guide FIRST; if you still have questions, contact call me.
Dr. Bob, SM-111, Projectoree Organizer

NOTE (and Reminder): All participants (including District Staff) are expected to pay the full $6 Registration fee, regardless of whether they want a patch or not, or whether or how many nights they're staying.
