Projectoree 2002
Newsletter #6, 4/19/2002

Greetings to All.

1) Site Visit
I will be visiting Camp Wilson sometime tomorrow (Saturday), probably in the mid-morning. I am not sure of the time yet because the Park Rangerhas not yet confirmed our earlier discussions on this matter.

The Service Project Coordinator should attend. Anyone who has not been to Camp Wilson before and has a major responsibility for setting up an event or their Troop's campsite, is also strongly encouraged to attend.

If you want to attend the site visit, please reply by email TODAY, and include your phone number, and I will get back to you tonight with the actual time frame. Since so many emails are work-based, I will call you unless you specify otherwise.

2) T-Shirt Orders
To date, I have received T-Shirt Orders from only two Troops, and both had to be returned for clarifications. PLEASE USE THE T-SHIRT ORDERING FORM!!! T-Shirt orders are due TOMORROW (Saturday), and that was already a concession on the part of the T-Shirt company. Please do not be late - it makes me look like a doofus, and one of these days we are going to either get a "no" or a whopping late fee tacked onto our order.

Remember, you need to turn in a T-Shirt Order Form EVEN IF YOUR TROOP IS NOT ORDERING ANY T-SHIRTS. In this case, Silence is NOT Golden.

3) Staff Food
Similarly, to date, I have received ZERO Staff Food Orders. [However, it is possible that people have submitted directly to Clay Henderson without cc'ing me.] Remember that Clay has specifically requested that all Staff Food Orders be turned in by 9am TOMORROW MORNING, because he will be out of town most of next week and must buy his supplies tomorrow morning.

Again, PLEASE USE THE STAFF FOOD ORDERING FORM!!! And again, you need to turn in a Staff Food Order Form EVEN IF YOUR TROOP IS NOT ORDERING ANY Staff Food (because it includes your PLC attendance estimate). Again, Silence is NOT Golden.

4) Projectoree Event Equipment
As you all know, I have a fair amount of Projectoree event equipment in my Scout garage, including part or all of Ball Toss, Firebuilding Race, Radioactive Basketballs, and Scoutmaster Chariot Race. To date, only the Caber Toss has been picked up. If you have need of any of these items for your event, I would like to get that done THIS WEEKEND, so it's not hanging over me later this week when I really will be going completely insane. Please email me if you want anything, and if so what time frames work for you for pickup.

BTW, Administrative Items should be picked up at my house this Wednesday or Thursday evening, per appointment. This will be addressed in the next Newsletter.

5) Other Administrivia
Tour Permits - Several Units STILL have not turned in their Tour Permits. If you are one of these, you are now potentially too late to get it done (we're well within the 2 week cutoff now), and will have to go to Council HQ's IN PERSON to get Andy to handle it - and you'd better sweet-talk her, too. FAX-ing or mailing WON'T WORK anymore. If your Unit does not have a SIGNED AND STAMPED Tour Permit, YOU CANNOT ATTEND THE PROJECTOREE.

BSA Registrations - According to Brian Fasci, a membership audit of the just completed ReCharters shows that a very large percentage of the graduating Webelos II's were not re-registered either by their Cub Packs or their anticipated Troops. Again, folks, UNREGISTERED SCOUTS ARE *NOT* ALLOWED TO ATTEND THE PROJECTOREE, because they are not insured. Each Unit MUST assume that any Scout who was not included in their ReCharter packet this past February is not registered unless they have personally ensured otherwise with the Council Registration Office. Yes, I have no way to check before the Projectoree, so yes, you can sneak them by me if you are so inclined, but how smart (or Scoutlike) is that? Please make sure your kids are registered!

Troop Rosters - Less than half the attending Units have turned in their current Troop Rosters. I will detail this in the next Newsletter.

Campfire Skits and/or Songs - I still need titles from 5 Units. Again, I will detail this in the next Newsletter.

That's It for Now. Remember to discuss this Newsletter with your Projectoree subcommittee - do NOT assume that "the other guy is handling this" (because he/she may be assuming the same thing). One Week to Go!

- Dr. Bob, SM-111
