Greetings to All. This Newsletter provides both reminders and some new material. Please read it carefully.
1) T-Shirt and Staff Food Orders Due by COB this Saturday
Remember, ALL TROOPS (and the O/A) MUST RESPOND, whether you are ordering or not. USE THE
FORMS TO DERIVE YOUR ORDERS. You MAY email the orders to me, or drop them off in my
mailslot. Please do not make me call you - this is an extremely busy weekend for me, and I
won't have the time to chase people down.
2) Other Forms or Info Required
Several Units owe me Tour Permits, Skit or Song Titles,
or Rosters (as detailed below). Note that (once again) I received copies
of ReChartering Rosters that I strongly suspect do not have your newest Scouts listed. I
need accurate Troop Rosters Folks!
Tour Permit: 143
Song Skit or Title: 143, 647
Rosters: 128, 869 (O/A will provide on Projectoree Friday)
Yes, I know some of you have dropped off this material, but I haven't plowed through all the stuff in my house or in-box yet.
3) Site Visit THIS SUNDAY
I and several members of Troop 1130 will be going down on a site visit this Sunday
morning. If you wish to join us, please be at St. Agnes' Parish Center by no later than
10am Sunday morning (we are leaving promptly at 10am). Again, if you have a complex setup
and are unsure of how/where things will need to be, this is a great way to give yourself a
leg up.
If you wish to join us, PLEASE EMAIL ME TO THAT EFFECT, so I know who to wait for. Although there is a District Camporee going on at Camp Wilson this weekend, Scout uniforms are NOT required for the Site Visit. The weather should be fine (on Sunday).
4) Equipment Available by Appointment, THIS WEEKEND
As detailed in the last Newsletter, I have equipment for a number of games in my
Projectoree shed. If you need any of this, please plan on picking it up THIS WEEKEND, BY
APPOINTMENT. Note that I have two Eagle Scout Projects, a Swiss trip meeting, and an
Projectoree Troop Acting SM meeting all this weekend, so I will be in and out like a
squirrel in November. Make an appointment by email, and CALL ME to make sure I'm here.
Again, to emphasize, if you need it, you MUST pick up your game equipment from me THIS WEEKEND - I will not have opportunities to relay stuff to you next week; there will be too many other Projectoree tasks and other conflicting activities going on in my life.
Keep in mind, we are expecting rain here from afternoon tomorrow through mid-day Saturday (not too much fun for the Camporee at Camp Wilson this weekend). This may influence your choice of time frames to come over.
5) Protestant Service Volunteers Sought by Troop 104
Message from Rob Stefan, SM-104:
As Coordinator of the Protestant Service, I have lined up a soon to be ordained Seminary student who has run ecumenical services for both youth and adults, including services at the Pentagon. She would like to see if Scouts want to be part of the music or speaking roles, especially those that play an instrument or are working on or completed their Scout religious award.
Adult leaders - please solicit among your attending Scouts for those with interest in speaking parts (e.g. a Bible reading) or music (e.g. instrument or leading the singing). You can email me with names and email or phone numbers and type of interest at rsstefan-at-hotmail.com. As soon as possible, please.
6) Dr. Bob Needs Help Next Friday
As I mentioned at the Second Meeting, Troop 111's setups take about 20 man-hours to
complete. Usually I have 3 or 4 other Troop 111 adults assisting me, but this year, so far
I only have 2. I would dearly appreciate one or two more volunteers to assist me early
Projectoree Friday (May 2nd). I normally arrive at Camp Wilson at 7am. If you can help,
please email me asap. Lunch (and probably dinner) at Denny's is on the house. If you need
to return home in the afternoon to assist with your Troop, that would be fine.
As you know, the obstacle course is THE most popular event at the Projectoree, so this is not a trivial request!
7) District Personnel
Please feel free to invite your Unit Commissioners or any other District personnel
associated with your Troop to pay us a day visit on Saturday, or camp with you for the
weekend.
8) Last Chance on Last Year's T-Shirts and Patches
I will have the last of last year's T-Shirts and Patches available for purchase at the
Friday Registration. T-Shirts (all sizes): $3; Patches: $1. All brand-new; never worn. If
interested, please bring an extra blank check to purchase (NOT CASH!)
9) New Scouts
Please Make Absolutely Sure That Your New Scouts Are Registered BEFORE You Come To The
Projectoree. Remember, unregistered Scouts are uninsured Scouts - a potential
liability disaster for both you personally - and your Chartered Partner.
10) Game Prep
Remember my comments on game preparation and practice - THIS WEEKEND is the time frame to
pull everything together. Do not think for a moment that you can toss it all together a
week from now and make it work; it won't happen. Everyone who has tried has failed. Don't
be the next to try.
11) Registrar and First Aid/Timekeepers/Rovers "Dr. Bob Stuff"
Please plan on picking up your "Dr. Bob Stuff" on Thursday night. By
appointment, please! I will be available from 5pm on.
12) Projectoree Guide
Please re-read the Projectoree Guide in the next couple of days. The better prepared you
are, the better experience everyone will have.
One Week To Go! Pray for Good Weather!
- Dr. Bob, SM-111
Home.
