Chain Bridge Projectoree 99
Newsletter #11 - 4/11/99

Greetings to All.

Critical Dates this upcoming week:

1) T-Shirt Orders for BOTH Projectorees, and Staff Food Orders for Projectoree "A," are due to Bob and Clay Henderson, respectively, by COB Friday, April 16th.  A Staff Food ordering summary is given by Clay Henderson, below. If your orders are not in, you're S.O.L. - you will not be able to order T-Shirts later, or have your Senior Scouts camp and eat in the Staff area. In addition, YOUR ORDERS MAY NOT BE ADJUSTED AFTER FRIDAY. You need to nail down your commitments this week - that's why you're getting this message tonight.

2) I would also like an update for each Troop's expected number of Patrols; as previously detailed, Troop 869 would like to transfer to Projectoree "A," but we do not have room at this time to allow this transfer. Please therefore give me the actual number of Patrols you now expect to attend, and we'll see if we can accommodate 869. Also by COB Friday, April 16th.

3) Sunday, April 18th - Optional visit to Camp Wilson for Troops participating in either Projectoree, with "A" being more crucial (B Troops will be visiting during A anyway, but are welcome to come if they wish.) If you have a major set-up and have never participated in a prior Projectoree, you are strongly encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to review the site layout before the big day.) Be at St. Agnes Parish Center by no later than 11am, or meet us at Camp Wilson at 11:45am - your choice.

4) Lost and Found - It's a bit early to advertise Lost and Found Items already, but someone left a tan/brown "Country Gentlemen" cap, size 7 1/8, at the last Projectoree Meeting. I suspect this doesn't belong to a Scout! If you've been wondering, email me please.

5) Patrol Scoring Sheets??? - I have been asked whether I will provide the Patrol Scoring Sheets at the staff meeting, or whether each Troop has to xerox them on their own. I will provide ALL SCORING SHEETS, including the "throwaway" sheets used to score Patrols on-the-fly (i.e., where the derived score is transferred to the yellow and blue cardstock scoresheets.) Do NOT bother xeroxing additional copies!

6) By this point, if you have not yet started the assembly and practice of your event, you are late and getting yourselves (and everyone else) in a bind. Ditto on Staff responsibilities.

7) The Service Project - appears to be settling in on a major brush clear-out in a wooded area that has experienced a lot of storm damage over the past few years. Recall that each Troop must provide a minimum of 2 Senior Scouts to the Service Project. It would be a good idea if these Scouts came with work gloves and sharp bowsaws or loping shears - neither the park or I will have enough equipment for everyone.

8) Clay Henderson's Staff Food Order Summary Follows:

To all of the Troops/Scouts attending the first Projectoree on April 23-25 (INCLUDING VISITING STAFF FROM "B" WHO ARE WORKING WITH THEIR CORRESPONDING "A" TROOPS!!!):

Troop 104 will be providing the Staff Food for the "A" Projectoree.

To do this, WE NEED YOUR TROOP'S STAFF FOOD HEAD-COUNT BY FRIDAY, APRIL 16TH.

I need your TROOP-NUMBER and the NUMBER-OF-PEOPLE eating Staff Food.

The price is $8 per for all "A" Scouts, and no charge for visiting "B" Scouts acting as Staff (however, WE STILL HAVE TO KNOW WHICH "B" SCOUTS ARE COMING AND WHICH MEALS THEY'RE EATING!!!) There is no discount for missed meals; however, if you come after the kitchen is closed, you are welcome to any left-overs. There were not many last year.

We will buy food for the total head-count you give to us. You will be expected to pay for them at the registration desk. If you arrive with additional Scouts who would like to eat with the staff, we are happy to accommodate as many as possible. Usually there is extra food, when purchased in bulk quantities. Extras will be on a first-come basis and we'll let the registration desk know what the limit is.

The menu will be about the same as it was last year:

SNACK: CHIPS / PRETZELS / POPCORN
