Addendum to the How-To Guide
1) SFF Check-Off List
A) Unit Decides Whether to Participate or Not.B) Unit Determines How Many Scouts are Available Each Week.
C) Determine if your Unit has a "Traditional" Distribution/Collection Area.
D) Determine the Approximate Housing Density in the Area You Intend to Cover to Determine the Number of Bags per Working Group.
E) Determine the Total Number of Bags You Need.
F) Sign Up for Your Map Area, Pick Up Bags
G) Develop Sub-Maps of Your Area
H) Decide If You Want to Create and Use Insert Flyers
I) Decide If You Want to Participate In the Ancillary Campaigns (American Flag collection, Toys for Tots collection)
J) Print Off Your Insert Flyers
K) Create Sign-Up Sheets for both weekends for Your Troop Meetings
L) Optional - Pre-Stuff Flyers into Bags
M) Determine Assembly Time and Place for Both Weekends
N) Determine a Uniform Policy
O) Do a Reminder Telephone Tree and/or Mass Email on the Thursday (email) or Friday (teletree) just before Distribution Saturday.
P) Draft Up Basic Instructional Sheets for the Working Groups
Q) Assemble and Distribute Bags and Flyers
R) Decide If You Want To Post Reminder Signs (If yes, best to install on Thursday, preferably during daylight hours)
S) Again, Do a Reminder Telephone Tree and/or Mass Email on the Thursday (email) or Friday (teletree) just before Collection Saturday.
T) Check Signs (Collection Friday); Reinstall as Needed
U) Assemble Week II - collect bags and signs
V) Run "Tail End Charlie" Crews - collect missed bags and missed signs
W) Disassemble and store SFF reminder signs and u-wires, collect all area sub-maps and store
X) Deliver worn-out American flags and Toys For Tots to the collection point or to the December roundtable.
