Eagle Scout John Myers

John Myers was inducted as the Troop's 42nd Eagle Scout at the Troop's 50th Anniversary (actually the 51st Anniversary) in October of 1990, marking the culmination of the National "Year of the Eagle" Celebration by the Troop. Troop 111 was John's third Troop, following 3 year stints with Troop 135 in Honolulu, Hawaii, and Troop 11 in Brandon, Florida. He completed his Eagle requirements with Troop 11, but transferred to Arlington in late 1989, before being confirmed or inducted. He and his younger brother Andy both joined the Troop in January, 1990.

John was an active camper in all three Troops, and went to Philmont Scout Ranch with Troop 11. He was also a member of the Order of the Arrow. His Eagle Service Project was the design and construction of a new storage facility at St. Andrew's United Methodist Church in Brandon; the project, which took over 200 hours to complete, was characterized by Troop 11's Scoutmaster Tom Beattie as "perhaps not very glamorous, but desperately needed."

John was inducted as a Troop 111 Eagle by unanimous vote of the Troop Committee during the planning of the "Year of the Eagle" Celebration.
