Eagle Scout
David Stainback
David Stainback - the Troop's 51st Eagle Scout! David passed his
Eagle Board of Review on 15 December 1996, giving the Troop its third Eagle of
1996.
His Honor Role:
- 30 Merit Badges
- 54 Days of Long-term camping (including Philmont)
- 34 Days of Short-term Camping
- Mile Swim Award
- 50-Miler Award
- Parvulei Dei Award
- 24 Hours of Trail Service
- 24 Hours of Troop Service
- 20 Hours of Community Service
- Assistant Patrol Leader
- Patrol Leader
- Assistant Senior Patrol Leader
- Troop Guide
David's Project was in followup to Mike Arthurs' sign building and
installation at Camp Olmsted (and was specifically requested by the Camp
Director after Mike's Project.) David also built and installed nearly 2
dozen signs, several with multiple listings; these filled in the few
remaining gaps with respect to campsite locations, but concentrated more
on directional signs to program areas. The project totaled 532
man-hours of work, which has to be a new Troop record. Camp Olmsted is
without question the best signed camp in all of Goshen Scout Camps!
David's Eagle Board was also top-notch: Tim Arthurs (Chairman, Eagle
Scout), Carl Doughman (Arlington Area Commissioner), Ted Gerarden
(Committee Member), John Meyers (Patawomeck District Eagle Board), and
Roy Mimms (Patawomeck District Eagle Board, Emeritus).
