Merit Badge Pre-Registration Notice

We just received the 2000 Camp Powhatan Merit Badge Schedule, which includes almost 30 merit badge offerings. Pre-registration is REQUIRED by the Camp. At the April 24 troop meeting Jane and I will distribute the schedule, along with instructions and 3x5 cards for communicating preferred selections back to us. At the May 1 troop meeting we will collect cards on which preferred selections are marked.

Some of these merit badges have significant prerequisites, so after we get everyone's preferences we will notify the relevant merit badge counselors in the Troop in order that they can begin assisting individual scouts in completing the prerequisites for their chosen badges.

There is a good chance that the camp's merit badge schedule will change after we have made our initial selections. They will cancel those merit badges that have too few Scouts signed up, or if they can't get a Counselor. If this occurs again, as it has in the past, some scouts may have to adjust their selections. Be prepared with alternate MB selections (1 or 2) in case it happens.
